Cybersecurity expert Kostyantyn Korsun talks about cases of public exposure of the lies of the Minister of Energy and his subordinates, as well as similar situations with concealment of the truth regarding the Diya hack in 2022. Korsun analyzes these events, comparing them and drawing conclusions about the systemic problem of denial of facts by the authorities.
I was struck by the story of the Minister of Energy and his subordinate officials being publicly caught in a lie.
I was impressed by analogies and conclusions from them. For those who are not in the know, I will briefly remind you of the essence of zashkvar.
A couple of weeks ago we all suffered from long blackouts and suspected that something was definitely up - but we stinkers weren't supposed to know about it.
Expert Kharchenko reported that an accident occurred at the South Ukrainian NPP, transformers burned down.
The accident was not critical, and in fact everything was restored within 24 hours. But the minister, together with his subordinate Energoatom, denied the fact of the accident, calling Kharchenko's exposure from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada a "Russian ipso".
Then People's Deputy Zheleznyak published the response of Ukrenergo, where it was written in Ukrainian in white: "yes, there was an accident, yes, the transformers failed, yes, the power unit was disconnected."
But the officials continued to deny the already confirmed fact and continued to call the truth "Russian ipso". They also appealed to the National Security Council and the Security Service of Ukraine "to take measures against those who spread rumors...".
Well, then the international organization IAEA officially confirmed the fact of the accident - because this is their job.
Do you think the minister admitted the lie, explained the reasons, repented?
In no case. Do you think he is in danger of resigning or at least being punished for known false information to the Security Service of Ukraine? But right now.
The story of the Diya hack in 2022 developed according to an almost similar scenario.
The hack took place in January 2022.
The Minister of Action and his underlings denied this fact, despite evidence from the dark web of part of the stolen database. Expert Korsun reported on this evidence, he was called an "agent of the Kremlin" and was included in the "peacemaker" - however, for criticizing another state application (to date it has already been deleted).
But in July 2023, People's Deputy from the ruling party Fedienko (who is also an ardent supporter of Digital Minister Fedorov) writes an official request to the Minister of Defense Reznikov, where he writes in Ukrainian in white "On the night of January 13-14, 2022, Diya was hacked..."
Expert Korsun once again points to this fact as another proof of the failure of Action.
And again he receives a portion of accusations of "spreading Russian ipso". And so, in July 2024, the fact of hacking Diya was confirmed by the court of the state of Maryland, the Attorney General's Office and the US FBI, this case was covered by the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, as well as the Voice of America, and the Russian suspect was declared wanted and a reward of $10 million was announced for his detention
What does the digital minister and his subordinates do?
Of course, deny the obvious facts. They try to lie ridiculously, as if "the data leak of 13.5 million citizens cannot be true because at that time there were only 1.5 million in Diya."
Although Fedorov personally boasted in the news during that period that "Diya already has more than 13 million users."
The manipulation is so close that it is refuted in a few seconds of Googling. Do you think they confessed, explained, repented? Is someone threatened with resignation?
Therefore, the primitive denial of facts that are not beneficial to the authorities are not one-off cases, it is their strategy, this is how they understand the "end of the age of lies." I don't know if they are taught this, or if it is an instinctive reaction of a single-celled organism to irritation.
But the key problem of lack of trust is that when you are caught in a small lie, you automatically believe that you are also lying in big matters.
And passing the next winter is a very big question for Ukrainians, especially for those who are locked up within the borders of Ukraine and do not have the opportunity to leave to "winter" somewhere in Bali or Thailand.
This is how it turns out that the systemic lies of officials turn into a matter of the nation's survival.
And they always try to cover up corruption, sabotage, incompetence, embezzlement with lies. Phenomena, the development of which in Ukraine exactly coincides with the goals of the Kremlin.
