Oleksandr Sokolovskyi, the head of the All-Ukrainian Association of Light Industry Employers and the owner of military uniform production enterprises, publicly accused the Holosiiv Prosecutor's Office of a commission case against him. He claims that prosecutor Oleksandr Shapovalov and police officer Volodymyr Nikonenko are part of a scheme developed with the participation of ex-deputy of the Kyiv City Council Serhiy Kotvytskyi.
Sokolovsky describes the situation as a classic example of raiding supported by law enforcement agencies. According to him, the case concerns the abandoned buildings of the former pioneer camp on the outskirts of Kyiv, where a new project was planned. According to Sokolovsky, ex-deputy Kotvytskyi tried to intervene in this project with a proposal to take over the enterprise, build a cottage town in its place and settle by square meters.
After Sokolovsky refused the offer, the prosecutor's office opened a criminal case. Soon the object was put up for sale by realtors, and, according to Sokolovsky, this announcement became the basis for an investigation. Prosecutor Shapovalov allegedly "accidentally" came across this ad and used it to build a case against the businessman.
The situation worsened when suspicions were handed to the director of the company and Sokolovsky's partner and a court hearing was scheduled to determine a preventive measure. The prosecutor offered bail in the amount of 23 million hryvnias for each of the accused.
Sokolovsky believes that such actions destroy the business climate in Ukraine and harm enterprises that work for the country's defense and economy. He emphasizes that his enterprises are strategic for defense and the economy, and in 2023 alone they paid 442 million hryvnias in taxes.
For their part, prosecutor Shapovalov and police officer Nikonenko have not yet commented on the situation. We continue to follow the development of events in this high-profile case.
