On September 13, Liliya Bas, an official of the Volyn Oblast Pension Fund, declared receiving a MERCEDES-BENZ GLA 250 (2018) as a gift from her son, customs inspector Volodymyr Vasyl Bas. The cost of the car was estimated at 750,000 hryvnias.
The official's son declared another car in August 2024 — a VOLKSWAGEN E-Golf (2017) for 400 thousand hryvnias. Previously, Liliya Bas used an AUDI A6 (2015), which was registered to Nelya Vasylivna Bas.
Interestingly, the entire family is connected to the Volyn prosecutor's office: Liliya is the wife, and Volodymyr is the son of prosecutor Vadym Bas. The son's declaration is practically empty, and he has not previously filed declarations. Although Bas Jr. has military training, he does not serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The situation caused a public outcry due to the high prices of cars donated to the official by a close relative, and the lack of transparent sources of income for the purchase of expensive vehicles.
