Ukrainian singer Volodymyr Dantes recently spoke about his acquaintance with the third president of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko. The artist shared that what surprised him most about politics was how Yushchenko, even in retirement, continues to actively support Ukraine.
This summer, Dantes, along with other members of the Badstreet Boys, shot a video for the song “That’s Right” for a charitable purpose. The star of the video was Viktor Yushchenko, who helped raise funds to support Ukrainian soldiers. Viktor Andriyovych played the role of musician Elton John and became part of the project aimed at helping the SSO and GUR.
In an interview for the podcast “SuchTsukrMuz”, Dantes recalled that before filming, Yushchenko invited the artists to his museum to have a closer conversation. The singer noted that even after his resignation, the ex-president remains an important figure in the country and continues to be active. “We rearranged the jugs there, but he was very funny. He sits and says: 'I get up in the morning and go feed the ducks. Because I'm alone,'” recalls Volodymyr Dantes. According to him, this shows how Yushchenko remained simple and humane, despite his status.
However, what surprised the singer the most was how Yushchenko consults with his family on all issues. It turned out that even before filming the video, he had been thinking for half a year whether to participate in the project, and consulted with his family. “Daughters, wives – they gave their consent. And this again bribed me a lot. You can be the president of the country, you can do everything, but you still go and consult with your family. It’s very cool, humane,” Volodymyr noted.
