President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on a petition that has collected over 25,000 signatures to revise the Winter eSupport program. The corresponding instruction was sent to Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal for detailed analysis.
The program provides a one-time payment of 1,000 hryvnias to every Ukrainian to support citizens during the difficult winter period. It was initiated in the context of an energy and economic crisis caused by a full-scale war with Russia.
The petitioner expressed concerns about the transparency of the program, including funding and the lack of a targeted approach to payments. He pointed out the illogicality of this move against the backdrop of record tax increases and called for funds to be directed to help vulnerable segments of the population.
In his response, Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that the main goal of the program is to support Ukrainian families during the winter period, as well as to stimulate demand for Ukrainian goods and services. The President added that the government should assess the effectiveness of the program and consider possible proposals for its improvement.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed the Prime Minister of Ukraine to conduct a detailed analysis of the initiative. Since the petition has collected the required number of signatures, the government should consider the possibility of making changes to the program. The author of the petition will be informed of the results of this analysis.
