Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko received an unexpected offer to return to professional sports. Saudi official Turki Al-Sheikh offered the legendary athlete a championship fight at one of the big boxing evenings organized in Saudi Arabia.
The head of the General Directorate of Entertainment of Saudi Arabia, Turki Al al-Sheikh, stated during the WBC conference that he wants to see former world champion Wladimir Klitschko in the ring again.
He hopes Klitschko can challenge for the championship title, likely against the winner of the Oleksandr Usyk-Tyson Fury rematch, which will take place on December 21.
During this address, the Ukrainian boxer was in the hall and listened attentively to Turki, smiling several times.
“I want to see you in the ring again, you should get a chance to win the championship belt again. Let's wait for the result of the Tyson-Usyk fight, the result of the Dubois fight. I want to ask the WBC, IBF, WBA, WBO to give you a chance to fulfill this dream,” the Saudi official noted.
Usyk and Fury rematch – latest news
Former European champion Spencer Oliver has previously said he is keeping a close eye on Fury's training camp and himself ahead of his rematch with Usyk. He said the British boxer is in great shape. However, Oliver stressed that if Fury "plays around" with gaining weight before the fight, it could be "his own undoing.".
In turn, the famous promoter Frank Warren noted that Tyson Fury and his team will no longer allow any antics before the rematch with Ukrainian heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. In particular, he believes that this time there will be no conflict between the teams of Usyk and Fury.
