Internally displaced persons (IDPs) will soon be able to claim full compensation for the cost of renting housing, MP Pavlo Frolov announced.
According to him, the amount of assistance can reach 100% of the rent for low-income families.
How to get compensation
To use the mechanism, displaced persons need to:
-
conclude an official lease agreement with the owner of the property;
-
register this document with the Pension Fund.
Only after this will the IDP family be able to receive compensation from the state.
The government is also considering exempting homeowners from taxes if they rent their homes to IDPs officially. This should encourage citizens to register their leases without fear of additional financial costs.
The new mechanism is designed to make housing more accessible to those who lost their homes due to the war, as well as bring the Ukrainian rental market out of the shadows.
