The number of people's deputies who expressed their desire to terminate their powers early is growing.
There are already cases when the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada does not release parliamentarians. This was stated by the head of the "Servant of the People" faction, David Arakhamia, in a commentary on the Rada TV channel.
"Actually, the number of people who want to leave the parliament is much larger. We are no longer letting people go... We say that we simply will not vote for it, because the people have to sit until the end of the current term of the Verkhovna Rada and adopt the laws necessary for the state," Arahamiya said.
He also emphasized that the decrease in the number of people's deputies will affect the activities of the parliament. For this reason, he determined the need to optimize the work of the Verkhovna Rada and reduce the minimum number of people's deputies in factions.
According to data as of December 11, the Verkhovna Rada has 400 people's deputies against the legislative limit of 450. On December 8, the parliament terminated the powers of three more deputies at their request, which led to an anti-record number of deputies in the Rada.
