Increased cholesterol in the body often goes without noticeable signs, but sometimes the body gives signals that should be taken seriously. About this in an interview was warned by doctor Monica Wassermann.
According to the expert, the main danger is the so -called "bad" cholesterol - low -density lipoproteins (LDL). Its accumulation is associated with the development of atherosclerosis, impaired blood circulation, risk of heart attack and stroke. The problem often occurs in middle -aged and older people.
“Most often, high cholesterol can only be detected by a blood test. But there are a number of alarming signs that can sometimes indicate its excess, ”Wassermann said.
What to pay attention to:
The condition of the legs. Numbness, burning, tingling, feet pain - all this can be the result of the formation of cholesterol plaques in the vessels of the feet. Due to the narrowing of blood vessels, the blood supply worsens, which leads to unpleasant sensations.
Changes in skin and hair. The legs become colder, lose their hair, deteriorate nails - they grow slowly or break.
Other symptoms:
-
chest pain;
-
constant fatigue;
-
frequent shortness of breath;
-
unclear nausea;
-
high blood pressure;
-
A strong feeling of cold in the lower body.
The doctor urged not to ignore such signs and be sure to see a doctor for examination.
“Early detection of high cholesterol helps to avoid many complications. Regular health monitoring is the best prevention of serious diseases, ”Wassermann summed up.
