Voting on the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest unexpectedly gave Ukraine a lesson in democracy. According to analyst Valery Pekar, it showed the impossibility of using "Dia" and similar applications to implement critically important democratic procedures.
The country learned the lesson of the impossibility of using applications like "Action" to implement critically important democratic procedures. A lesson for those who used to think it was possible. I never thought it was possible.
I do not consider Eurovision to be a critically important democratic procedure, but it did not help him.
The legitimacy of the authorities is declining, and it is impossible to hold elections during the war for either legal, technical, social, or security reasons. These reasons are well described... These reasons are well understood by 62% of Ukrainian men and women who, in sociological surveys, noted the impossibility of holding elections during the war.
The only way out in the conditions of a fall in the legitimacy of the government and the impossibility of holding elections is the transition to inclusive development of public policy by the bodies we have. This includes:
- Establishing a systematic dialogue with expert centers and stakeholders on each section of public policy, especially on such critical ones as mobilization , public finance, economy, culture, etc.
- The formation of a government of national rescue from non-party experts (not to be confused with a government of national unity, which unites the ruling party and the opposition, this construction will not take off).
- Restarting the reform of public administration, which was stopped at a time when politicians thought it was possible to do without it.
- Returning in full all the gains of the decentralization reform that were stopped during the war.
- Opening the meetings of the Verkhovna Rada to journalists, which will allow to restore trust in the parliament.
- Restarting the public communications system, because a single marathon, anonymous Telegram channels and positive bloggers have long been working only to undermine the trust and authority of the authorities .
We as a nation cannot afford to have a wartime illegitimate government without trust and authority making critical public policies (determining the lives and deaths of millions) behind closed doors through the efforts of "5-6 effective managers" whom no one elected.
