Every year on Christmas Eve, the Scouts pass the Bethlehem Flame of Peace to Christendom. The tradition started in 1986 in the Austrian city of Linz, when the local television and radio company decided to deliver the fire from Bethlehem to hospitals and orphanages to support those who celebrate Christmas away from home. The fire is brought by plane from Bethlehem, and later this idea was picked up by the scouts, making it international.
In Ukraine, the Bethlehem flame of peace has been spread by plastuns since 1988.
Last year, the Bethlehem flame of peace was delivered to the government.
