MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported that the draft State Budget for 2025 currently does not provide funding for holding any elections. He wrote about this on his Telegram channel .
“Nothing has been included in the budget (for 2025 - ed.) for the elections yet. That is, the expenditures for the CEC are almost at the level of this year, even slightly less,” the People's Deputy noted.
This means that the budget for the Central Election Commission for next year remains practically at the level of 2024, without providing additional funds for the holding of nationwide elections.
At the same time, the budget still includes a “classical article” that was already in place in previous years. It stipulates that after the termination or lifting of martial law, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine together with the Central Election Commission, must submit proposals for amendments to the budget for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada. These amendments should provide funding for the preparation and holding of the next presidential, parliamentary, and local elections .
This is the third adoption of this article, indicating a long-standing undecided position on the issue of elections under martial law.
