In Odessa, the court sent the organizer and three participants of a criminal group, which operated under the guise of police and representatives of territorial centers of staff. They demanded money from men of conscript age, promising to "solve the issue" with mobilization.
This was reported by the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The attackers acted brazenly and openly: they tracked the men on the streets, checked them documents and, threatening forced delivery to the shopping center, demanded bribes. The money was taken in cash - at least 80 thousand hryvnias and $ 3,000 received for their "services".
In order to convince the victims, the pseudo -law enforcement officers assured that they will enter their data to the "Protection" base, which would allegedly protect against further problems with the military enlistment office. In fact, they had no real effect on mobilization.
In November 2024, the group was detained during the next attempt. The group is a person with a criminal past, including a former law enforcement officer who had previously had a criminal record.
All four persons involved were in custody until the case was completed. During the trial, they pleaded in full.
The court appointed them for 7 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The prosecutor's office emphasizes that such crimes are regarded as cynical abuse of people's trust and the military situation in the country.
The investigation lasted under the procedural guidance of the Odessa Regional Prosecutor's Office.
