The Kyiv District Court of Odessa declared a sentence to members of a criminal group, which in 2021 stole 20-year-old Odessa for redemption. The malefactors demanded one million US dollars from relatives.
According to the National Police of Ukraine, the events unfolded in March 2021. A group of people stole a 20-year-old resident of Odessa and illegally took him to Kiev. There the boy was kept in the apartment for several days, threatening him with physical violence.
To force the family to pay the ransom, the attackers recorded a video with threats: they put a gun to the head of the young man and forced him to ask for help. The frightened relatives, unable to collect the requested amount, went to the police.
During the special operation, police officers managed to establish the exact residence of the hostage. The victim was released and the members of the group were detained. Upon completion of the pre -trial investigation, they were charged with the abduction of a person for selfish reasons.
The court found all the defendants guilty. Depending on the role of everyone in the crime, they were imprisoned in the form of imprisonment for a term of 8 to 10 years with confiscation of property.
The police say that the detainees were part of an organized group that acted with a clear distribution of roles and a pre -planned abduction plan.
