In the Kirovohrad region, the head of the local TCC, who was accused of abuse of office, was recently sentenced. According to the Unified Register of Court Decisions, the crime occurred in August 2022.
According to court documents, the accused received a bribe of 40,000 hryvnias from a conscripted man right in his office. With the funds received, he influenced the surgeon of the local hospital to issue a certificate on the man's temporary unfitness for service for 6 months.
Initially, the act was qualified under Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and the head of the "TCC" was threatened with 12 years of imprisonment and a fine of 10,000 hryvnias. However, the crime was later reclassified as abuse of influence (Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code).
"This is standard practice in similar cases, as it is not about direct abuse of official duties, but only about influencing another official," the journalists note.
The defendant decided to make a deal with the prosecutor and fully admitted his guilt.
"The parties agreed on a fine in the amount of 85 thousand hryvnias and an additional punishment in the form of deprivation of the right to hold positions related to the conscription of citizens for military service for three years," the court decision says.
