The higher anti-corruption court decided to take into custody Artur Samilyak, the former head of the communal property and land relations department of the municipal administration of the Mukachevo City Council of Zakarpattia Oblast, in a case related to the mayor of Mukachevo, Andrii Baloga. The decision was made on June 27 by investigative judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court Ihor Strohy at the request of NABU detectives and SAP prosecutors.
The suspect's defense objected to the arrest with an alternative of 10.1 million hryvnias of bail, but the court decided to partially satisfy the request and imposed a preventive measure on Samilyak in the form of detention for 60 days. An alternative was also determined in the form of a 5 million hryvnia bail, after which the suspect will have to comply with a number of conditions, including handing in foreign passports and wearing an electronic bracelet.
At the same time, NABU and SAP also detained the mayor of Mukachevo, Andriy Baloga, and former People's Deputy Mykhailo Lanyo. They are suspected of paying bribes for the decision to sell a plot of land to a private company at a significantly reduced price at a city council session, which resulted in losses for the local community.
