A high-profile attack on a 95-year-old man took place in the Polish capital. A 41-year-old Ukrainian citizen covered the victim's mouth and took 60 zlotys from him. Despite the small amount, the brutality of the attack on the elderly man caused a wide public outcry.
The incident occurred on Marymoncka Street. Thanks to the victim's immediate reaction and the effective work of the police, the perpetrator was quickly identified. Law enforcement officers removed the recordings from surveillance cameras and distributed the suspect's image among the metropolitan police units.
A few days later, a man resembling the wanted man was spotted on Targowa Street and was detained on the spot.
The detained Ukrainian was placed in a pre-trial detention center, after which he was officially charged with robbery. The Warsaw-Żoliborz Prosecutor's Office initiated deportation proceedings, and with the participation of the Border Guard, the man was expelled from Poland.
Law enforcement officials emphasize that prompt notification of the police and assistance from witnesses played a key role in the arrest of the criminal. The investigation into the case is ongoing under the control of the prosecutor's office.
