Water supply restrictions may begin in various cities in Ukraine due to critical debts of the population for utility services. This was announced by People's Deputy Bohdan Kitsak on the air of News.Live.
According to the People's Deputy, the situation that has already developed in Rivne and Ivano-Frankivsk may repeat itself in other regions of the country.
"These precedents, which are now appearing in Rivne and Frankivsk, will continue to spread throughout Ukraine. Because the level of debt, if we count across the country, reaches almost ten billion. We need to get out of this situation," Kitsak emphasized.
He also added that the situation is causing a wave of public outrage, so it is necessary to find an effective solution that will solve the problem without massive restrictions on water supply.
MP Viktoriia Hryb, who heads the subcommittee on energy security and housing and communal services, also drew attention to the debt problem. She emphasized that communal enterprises are in an extremely difficult financial situation.
"Today we have 8 billion - this is the debt of the population. In my opinion, we need to create a fund for people who cannot pay utility bills," said Hryb.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the procedure for recalculating the cost of utility services, including heating, water supply, and garbage collection. However, this does not yet solve the problem of debts and possible restrictions on water supply for Ukrainians.
If a mechanism to resolve the debt crisis is not found in the near future, water supply schedules may become a reality for many cities in Ukraine.
