On Friday, May 16, Ukraine found itself in the grip of bright weather contrasts. While the west and north of the country will be cool and rainy, the southeast will get its share of spring warmth. According to UNIAN, the air temperature will range from +9° in the western regions to +22° in the east.
West — cold and damp
The coldest weather will traditionally be in the west. In Lviv, -1° at night and only +12° during the day are expected. In Lutsk, Rivne, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, it will be cloudy with clearings, wet in some places and not higher than +14°. In Chernivtsi, it will be up to +10° and gray skies. Even Uzhhorod, which usually has a pleasant climate, will meet the day with overcast skies and a 14-degree maximum.
North — rain and coolness
Kyiv, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr — cloudy, rainy and +11°…+13°. Vinnytsia will be rained and will remain within +9°. Only Sumy, although geographically in the north, has fallen into the warm zone — up to +21° is forecast here.
The Center - Two Ukraines in One
In the center of the country, the weather is divided into two parts. If in Cherkasy and Poltava — +19°…+20° and light cloudiness, then in Vinnytsia — a significant cooling. Kropyvnytskyi also falls into the warm zone — +20° during the day, without precipitation.
East and south — almost summer
Dnipro, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, Severodonetsk — solid spring with summer undertones: up to +22°, dry and partly cloudy. In Kramatorsk, it is almost cloudless and a comfortable +21°.
In the south of the country, there is stable spring warmth: +20° in Mykolaiv, +21° in Kherson, +16° in Odessa, and +19° in Simferopol. All these cities will welcome the day with mostly sun or light clouds.
What does this mean for Ukrainians?
Contrasting weather is a challenge for the body, so those who are weather-dependent should be careful. Drivers should be aware of local rains and fog in the western and northern regions. Those who live in the east and south should not forget their sunglasses.
Spring is still in no hurry to arrive everywhere - and makes itself felt in different ways.
