Significant changes in weather conditions are expected in Ukraine from January 11. Frosts, snowfalls, heavy blizzards and icy roads are forecast in the coming days. Forecaster Natalka Didenko reported this on her Facebook page.
Starting January 11, Ukraine will experience a significant cold snap, bringing with it sleet, snowstorms, and ice, which may complicate road traffic. The air temperature during the day will vary from -2 to +3 degrees, and a slight drop to sub-zero temperatures is expected at night.
On average, the temperature in Ukraine in January will be at 0-3 degrees below zero, but in the south and in the Carpathians it may fluctuate within +2 degrees Celsius. In Transcarpathia, Crimea, Odessa and Kherson regions, the temperature will approach zero or slightly exceed it, while in the Carpathians it is predicted to be cold up to -6 degrees.
Meteorologist Ihor Kibalchich also notes that wet snow may accumulate at night, which will lead to the formation of ice, especially on the roads of the central, southern, and northern regions. At the same time, no precipitation is expected on the Left Bank.
The wind in the coming days will be south or southeast at a speed of 5-10 m/s, and in the western regions of Ukraine - west, 9-14 m/s. During the day in the west of the country the temperature will vary from -1 to +4°C, in other regions at night - from +2 to +7°C, during the day - from +6 to +11°C, and in Crimea the temperature will reach +12 to +17°C. In the Carpathians the temperature will fluctuate from -1 to -6°C.
According to the forecasts of the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, the average temperature in January 2025 will be 1.5-2 degrees above normal. At the same time, in the second half of the month, Ukraine may experience severe frosts down to -20°C, which will be a sharp contrast to the milder first half of January.
As for February, forecasters expect it to be a relatively cool month, with an average temperature of around 0°C. February 2025 will be 4°C colder than February 2024, with precipitation remaining stable. Up to three “wet” days are forecast from February 21.
