Orthodox believers honor the holy apostles Peter and Paul, two of Jesus Christ's closest disciples who became symbols of faith, courage, and spiritual service. On this day, it is customary to go to church, pray for the strengthening of faith, ask for healing, and support in family and life difficulties.
The people considered the feast of Peter and Paul to be the end of summer festivities and the beginning of the harvest. This date was called the "top of summer." Traditionally, by this day, the owners would complete the main cleaning of the house and prepare ceremonial pastries from young ears of corn.
Folk customs and signs
June 29 is associated with a number of traditions that were supposed to ensure a good harvest and health for the year. In the morning, people washed themselves with water from three springs, fed cattle with yellow flowers to increase their fertility, and tried to catch and cook fish in honor of the Apostle Peter, the patron saint of fishermen.

What can't be done today?
