Despite the widespread belief that hard cheeses are harmful to your figure, real Italian Parmesan — Parmigiano Reggiano — can be a useful part of a healthy diet, says dietitian Marta Garay.
She emphasizes: this is classic Parmesan, made according to the traditional recipe - only from unpasteurized milk, rennet, and salt, without any preservatives.
"This cheese contains a lot of protein, calcium, phosphorus, selenium and is practically lactose-free. It gives a feeling of satiety for a long time, supports muscle tissue and strengthens the immune system. This is an example of a truly natural product that is worth adding to your diet, especially if you want to eat a balanced diet," notes Garay.
Thanks to its long maturation, Parmesan is easily digestible, does not cause digestive problems, and its nutritional density makes it valuable for those who are monitoring their weight, avoiding snacking, and looking for healthy sources of energy.
Nutritionists advise combining Parmesan with herbs, vegetables, or adding it to sauces. It is especially appropriate for dinner, as it gives a feeling of satiety and reduces the risk of late-night hunger pangs.
