Believers traditionally turn to Saint Stephen with prayers for help in difficult life situations, relief from illnesses, and fulfillment of desires.

The end of November is a period of preparation for wintering. On this day, our ancestors would get warm clothes, strengthen their homes, and feed the birds by hanging feeders in their gardens. It was considered a special omen to see a jay near the house - it foreshadowed great happiness.
Among other folk observations:
• wet snow - to a damp and late spring;
• snowfall - to a snowy December;
• berries on cherries - to a delay in frosts;
• cold wind - to severe Christmas frosts.
It was also believed that on November 28, it was worth listening to the advice of older relatives - they could protect against mistakes and bring wisdom.
That today cannot be done
Traditions forbid borrowing things or money on this day if there is a fear that they will not be returned. It was not recommended to be jealous, complain about fate, and think badly. A separate prohibition concerned cruelty to animals - it was believed that this brings misfortune.
