September 17 is a special date for both the church and state calendars. Today, several important holidays are celebrated in Ukraine and around the world.
Church holiday
Orthodox believers honor the martyrs Vera, Nadia, Lyubov and their mother Sophia. The people consider this day a women's day, because it is traditionally associated with the happiness and well-being of women, the health of children and the strength of the family. Also today they remember the icon of the Virgin Mary "The Unburnt Bush", to which they pray for the protection of the home from the elements.

In ancient times, on this day, women were especially honored, their wishes were fulfilled, and flour dishes were prepared - pies, rolls, and loaves.
That cannot be done today
Women were advised to avoid heavy physical work and needlework. They were also advised not to start construction, make repairs, or rearrange furniture. For believers, cursing and condemning others is traditionally forbidden.
