From the beginning of February 2025, the electricity tariff in Ukraine will be UAH 4.32 per 1 kWh. The government made this decision within the framework of the mechanism of imposition of special obligations (NSO). The next tariff review will probably take place only after the end of the heating season, but there may be no changes.
How to pay less for electricity?
Ukrainians can save money by using multi-zone meters, which allow you to pay for electricity consumption at differentiated rates depending on the time of day:
- Dual-zone meter:
At night (from 23:00 to 07:00), the tariff is halved - to 2.16 UAH per 1 kWh. All other hours, the standard rate is 4.32 UAH. - Three-zone meter:
- Night tariff (23:00–07:00): 1,728 UAH per 1 kWh.
- Semi-peak (07:00–08:00, 11:00–20:00, 22:00–23:00): 4.34 UAH per 1 kWh.
- Peak (08:00–11:00, 20:00–22:00): UAH 6.48 per 1 kWh.
Who benefits from a three-zone meter?
This type of metering is suitable for those who have significant electricity consumption and can change their appliance usage habits. For example, if you avoid using electrical appliances during peak hours, a three-zone tariff will significantly reduce costs.
How to switch to a multi-zone tariff?
- Purchase a suitable multi-zone meter.
- Contact your electricity supplier with an application for switching to a new tariff.
- After installing the meter and setting up tariff accounting, use electricity according to the zonal consumption schedules.
Useful tips for saving money
- Use energy-intensive appliances (washing machine or dishwasher) at night.
- Plan to charge devices (electric vehicles, batteries) during the period of the lowest tariffs.
- Analyze your consumption and adjust your lifestyle according to the zone tariff.
By switching to multi-zone tariffs, consumers can optimize their electricity costs even if tariffs increase in the future.
