In August 2024, new rules will come into effect in Ukraine regarding men's travel abroad, in particular due to amendments to legislation and Cabinet resolutions. According to the updated law, which came into force on May 18, in order to leave the country, it is now necessary to update your data at territorial recruitment centers (TCK). This innovation will make it more difficult for those who did not have time to update their documents in time to leave.
Under the new rules, military registration checks will be mandatory for all men aged 18 to 60. Without up-to-date documents, even if they have legitimate reasons to travel, men may be denied entry. Those on the national wanted list may be detained by police at the discretion of border guards.
Otherwise, the conditions for leaving remain unchanged: men can go abroad for family reasons, for treatment, study, or due to professional duties.
The main reasons for leaving for family reasons include having children or accompanying disabled relatives. For leaving for medical reasons, confirmation of the need for foreign treatment is required. Students can leave to study at international universities, provided that certain requirements are met, such as having a student ID card and confirmation from the CCC.
For employees traveling on business trips or for work reasons, permission from the relevant ministries or military units is required.
Men who have been excluded from military registration have the right to travel abroad unless they have committed serious crimes. In this case, they need to have a military registration document with the appropriate mark and a medical commission report.
