Russian occupation forces continue their aggressive offensive in the Bakhmut district of Donetsk region, in particular, on the city of Chasiv Yar. At the moment, according to Andrey Polukhin, a representative of the press service of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo, the Russians control about 40% of the city, including the territory to the Canal.
This control has serious tactical implications. If the occupiers are able to fully capture Chasiv Yar, they will gain a strategic advantage in the heights, allowing them to control and influence key cities in the Donetsk region, such as Kostyantynivka, Druzhkivka, and Kramatorsk. They will also be able to block important logistical routes between these settlements, which could significantly complicate the defense of Ukrainian forces and facilitate further Russian advances.
Currently, the city of Chasiv Yar is almost completely destroyed, similar to the situations that developed in Avdiivka and Bakhmut after the Russian attacks. As Andriy Polukhin noted, the enemy does not spare these territories, turning them into ruins, which indicates complete indifference to the preservation of infrastructure and human lives.
The capture of Chasovy Yar could be a significant step in the plans of Russian forces to fully control the Donetsk region within its administrative borders. Earlier, the press officer of the 26th Artillery Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleg Kalashnikov, confirmed that the enemy does not stop trying to advance in the area of the city, conducting assault operations every day.
The front line currently runs along the Seversky Donets Canal, and daily attacks by small infantry groups indicate that the enemy is trying to gain a foothold on the other bank of the canal to further develop its assault potential.
