Ukrainian autumn ends with changeable weather: frost, rain and sleet, but from the weekend, weather forecasters promise stability and clarity. Natalia Ptukha, a forecaster at the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, spoke about the details of the forecast for the last week of November and the beginning of December.
The beginning of the week was marked by frosts: the temperature at night dropped to -8°C in most regions. But the ridge of the anticyclone from the northeast ensured clear weather without precipitation.
However, light sleet and rain were observed today in Luhansk, Donetsk and Crimea regions. Tomorrow, rain and sleet will affect the west, north and Kharkiv region.
From the middle of the week, Ukraine will be affected by the atmospheric fronts of a cyclone passing through Poland and Belarus. On Thursday, rain is forecast in the west of the country, and wet snow in the Carpathians. By Friday, the atmospheric front will gradually weaken, but will still affect the Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy and Chernihiv regions.
"On Friday, small mixed-phase precipitation is possible in these regions: wet snow with rain," noted Natalia Ptukha.
Due to increasing cloud cover, night frosts will gradually disappear. If at the beginning of the week it was -2°…-8°C at night, then from Thursday the temperature will fluctuate from +2° to -4°C. In the afternoon, it is expected to reach 0°…+6°C.
The weekend will bring a new wave of high pressure. The anticyclone will provide calm weather without precipitation, possibly with sunny clearings.
“This anticyclone will bring stability and create a winter mood, but without severe frosts,” the forecaster concluded.
