According to weather forecaster, candidate of geographical sciences Ihor Kybalchych, two waves of cold snap are expected in Ukraine in the coming days: the first will begin on October 14, after a short-term warming on October 18, and a new portion of cold weather will arrive on October 19–20. He told this in a comment to "Telegraph".
Until October 13, daytime temperatures will remain within +9…+16 °C, nighttime temperatures — +4…+11 °C. However, from October 14, due to the passage of a cold front, a cooling is expected throughout the country during the day: at night in most regions, thermometers will drop to +2…+8 °C, and during the day — to +6…+13 °C; only in the south will relatively warmer weather remain.
During October 15–17, night frosts are possible in the northern and eastern regions, as well as in the Carpathians, at places - about 0…-3 °C, warns Kybalchych. On October 18, a short-term increase in temperature by 3–5 °C is expected, but a new wave of cold weather will come on October 19–20.
Precipitation is most likely to occur on October 11, 13, 18, and 20; these days will bring moderate rain in places, and thunderstorms are possible in the south. In addition to temperature fluctuations, the forecaster draws attention to the unstable nature of the weather - fluctuations in atmospheric pressure, gusty winds, and local precipitation are expected.
"A gradual decrease in temperature is expected, as well as unstable weather," says Ihor Kybalchych. "In the coming days, it is worth preparing for fluctuations in temperature and wind, with night frosts possible in places in the northern, eastern regions and in the mountains."
According to Kybalchych, in general, the weather scenario corresponds to the season and does not foresee record or natural phenomena, although some regions will experience more significant temperature fluctuations and more intense rains on the indicated days.
