When the Pension Fund may stop payments: the main reasons

The Main Department of the Pension Fund in Vinnytsia region reminds you of the cases in which pension payment may be suspended and how it can be resumed.

When pension payments may be terminated
Territorial bodies of the Pension Fund or the court may terminate pension payments, in particular, in the following cases:

  • the pension was assigned on the basis of documents with inaccurate information;

  • the pensioner left for permanent residence abroad (unless otherwise provided for by an international agreement);

  • the pensioner himself wrote a statement to terminate payments due to temporary residence abroad;

  • death of a pensioner, recognition as missing or declaration of death;

  • status of a person missing under special circumstances;

  • failure to receive payments for 6 consecutive months;

  • failure to undergo the required physical identification;

  • other grounds provided for by law (for example, loss of the right due to employment in a position that gives the right to such a pension, or termination of the right of children to maintenance).

How to resume payments
Renewal is carried out by decision of the territorial body of the Pension Fund within 10 days after clarifying the circumstances and the presence of grounds for renewal. For renewal, you need:

  1. Personally contact any Pension Fund service center in Ukraine;

  2. Have an identity document with you;

  3. Submit an appropriate application for the restoration of payments.

For citizens abroad during martial law
If you are abroad during the martial law period (and within three months after its termination/cancellation), the application and necessary documents can be sent by mail to resume payments.

What to do if inaccurate data is discovered
If, during the inspection, inaccurate data is discovered in the documents on the basis of which the pension was assigned, the amount and grounds for payments are revised taking into account the correct information (excluding the inaccurate data).

Tips for retirees

  • Inform the Pension Fund in a timely manner about a change in your place of residence or work;

  • If you are abroad for a long time, clarify the procedure for receiving a pension in accordance with the current martial law regime;

  • Keep copies of all documents and applications submitted to the PFU - this will speed up the review.
