In July 2024, the management of the state-owned company NEK “Ukrenergo” received 2.2 million hryvnias in wages. This is 30%, or 500 thousand hryvnias more than in June. These figures are indicated in a report on the company’s official website, but the reasons for such a significant increase in wages remained unknown.
Interestingly, this “cash boom” occurred in July, when Ukraine faced the most severe power outage schedules. People across the country were forced to spend 14-16 hours a day without electricity, but it seems that this only added motivation to the top management of NPC “Ukrenergo”. After all, with such a gap in the distribution of resources, it is understandable that the company’s management at this time did not waste time in vain and made every effort for the “bright future” of its bank account.
According to Ukrenergo, the company's management's salary reached almost 22 million hryvnias in the first seven months of 2024. This means that each of the five board members - Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, Oleksiy Brecht, Serhiy Galahan, Oleh Skrypnyk, and Andriy Nemirovskyi - received an average of 4.4 million hryvnias during this period.
Well, while ordinary citizens were sitting in the dark, the management of Ukrenergo was apparently working in “brighter” conditions. However, the question remains: why, against the backdrop of such serious problems with electricity supply and increasing social tension, did the salaries of the company’s managers only grow? And isn’t it time to ask these questions not only to the management of NPC Ukrenergo, but also to everyone who is responsible for the functioning of Ukraine’s energy system?
