An important date is approaching in Ukraine for those who evade mobilization duties. According to new regulations, failure to comply with the requirements for updating military registration data can lead to significant fines. Lawyer Roman Simutin commented on when to expect the first fines for evaders and what amounts they may amount to.
“At the end of August, somewhere after the 20th. If someone has already been sent summonses after July 16, then at the end of August we can expect the first decisions,” says Roman Simutin. According to him, the first to probably receive summonses to the military service in August will be those conscripts who have updated their data but do not have a deferment or reservation.
"Not everyone will receive summonses. The data has been updated for more than 4 million 600 thousand conscripts. Half may have deferments, disabilities, three children. A certain number have reservations. There are about 1.5 million left who allegedly have no grounds. It is possible that those who do not have deferments and reservations will receive summonses," says Roman Simutin.
According to Simutin, if a citizen has not updated their data, and there is no data on a conscript in the “Oberig” registry, then CCC employees will open a paper case and manually issue a summons. “But such a person can also be detected at a checkpoint,” the lawyer clarifies.
