Which Ukrainians will be able to receive assistance from the UN in 2026?

In 2026, residents of frontline regions of Ukraine will be able to count on cash and food assistance within the framework of the UN World Food Program programs. Support will be provided in several formats and will depend on the security situation, as well as the population's access to shops and markets. This was reported by program representatives in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

Assistance is provided for residents of seven frontline regions - Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Sumy. It is separately noted that evacuated citizens, as well as people temporarily residing in transit centers, can count on support.

Due to funding cuts, the program focuses primarily on the most vulnerable categories of the population. These include people living near the front line, evacuees, the elderly, people with disabilities, large families, and citizens who have lost a stable income as a result of the war.

The format of assistance is determined by the conditions in a particular community. In settlements where shops are open and there is an opportunity to buy food, monetary support is provided. It can be provided in the form of monthly payments of 1,200 hryvnias or as a one-time emergency assistance of 10,800 hryvnias. Such payments are usually assigned after evacuation or shelling that has caused damage to housing.

In-kind assistance is provided for communities where access to trade is limited or completely absent. People will be provided with monthly food packages weighing about 13 kilograms. They include basic long-term products, including cereals, flour, pasta, canned goods, oil, sugar, and salt.

The program emphasizes that there is no self-registration online to receive assistance. The formation of lists of recipients is carried out by local authorities and UN partners directly on the ground - in communities and transit centers.

Separately, citizens are urged to be careful and beware of scammers. Real representatives of humanitarian programs do not call to demand CVV code, bank card PIN code, or access to online banking. All payments are made officially and without any "pre-payments.".
