In Ukraine, wearing a military uniform is regulated by law, and not every citizen has the right to wear camouflage, in particular the “pixel” . Illegal use of military clothing can result in a fine .
Who has the right to wear a military uniform?
Only the following may wear a military uniform:
- servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations;
- military service during the training period;
- reservists;
- cadets of military universities and high school students;
- people released into the reserve or retired with the right to wear uniforms.
What fines are imposed on violators?
In 2019, Article 186-8 was introduced into the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses (COA), establishing liability for the illegal wearing of military uniforms. It clearly states that the use of military clothing with insignia of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other military formations by persons who do not have the right to do so is an offense.
For the first violation, you can receive a fine of 2,550 to 3,400 UAH with confiscation of the form. For a repeated violation within a year: a fine of up to 6,800 UAH or community service (30-40 hours).
Even a pixelated T-shirt or camouflage clothing can be a reason for a police check. If a violation is detected, law enforcement officers detain a person to establish their identity and obtain the necessary documents.
