According to a new survey by the Rating group, 68% of Ukrainians do not keep money in banks. The reason is both banal and scary at the same time - people simply have nothing to save. Low income and lack of savings are the new normal for most Ukrainians. Another 25% do not trust the banking system and keep their money “under the mattress”. And this is not paranoia - this is survival experience.
While the authorities report on the “stability of the economy” and brandish EU standards, the country is experiencing a demographic collapse live on air. According to sociologists, the poverty level has increased sevenfold since 2022. And if previously 5% of Ukrainians were below the poverty line, now every fourth one. Let us emphasize: these data are not from the UN, but from national statistics.
And now — the main thing. Corruption has remained the main problem in the country for the fourth year in a row. Not war, not inflation, not unemployment. Corruption. People live under missiles, but still point fingers at the deriban, "kickbacks", imitation of reforms and circular responsibility in the offices.
And that's putting it mildly. Because those who should be fighting corruption have long since taken the lead. Anti-corruption activists in ties with a 10% "kickback" are the new reality. And while some are finishing off the bread from the bomb shelter, others are handing out reconstruction contracts, winking at their EU partners.
Yes, we should definitely be taken to Europe. Because we can teach even Europe how to steal effectively, under the guise of war. And there will be a separate cluster about this. More precisely, a cluster on kickbacks.
