The Ministry of Energy explains: Power outages in Ukraine are introduced due to damage to energy infrastructure, network failures, necessary repairs, and bad weather. Sometimes these are planned outages for repairs, sometimes hourly measures to stabilize the system during peak loads, and sometimes emergency maneuvers due to the effects of shelling or unforeseen failures.
Even when there is a clear schedule, its implementation can be delayed. It is technically difficult to restore power to all consumers at once: when connecting, the balance in the network must be smoothly restored, and if the load exceeds the permissible limit, the process is delayed. In addition, new emergency situations may arise during restoration, and then stabilization outages are supplemented by emergency ones - this automatically extends the time without electricity.
The Ministry asks the public to treat schedules as a crisis management tool: they save the system and allow for repairs to damaged facilities. The advice from energy experts remains basic steps - follow official notifications, have charged devices and a minimum supply of necessary things, and turn off unnecessary appliances when power is restored to avoid sudden surges in load.
