Donations to the Ukrainian army have dropped significantly this year, Bloomberg , citing the largest Ukrainian volunteer funds. According to volunteer Serhiy Prytula, to collect the same amount, you need to work three times harder than in previous years. The drop in donations is 20% in Prytula's fund, 15% in "Return Alive", 40% in Reactive Post, and even in "Army SOS" the collection has fallen 10 times.
There are several reasons for the decrease in donations, including economic difficulties, which are exacerbated by energy problems in the country, when people have to spend money on energy equipment due to constant power outages. In addition, volunteers point to the so-called "habituation" to war - when some citizens no longer feel the same urgent need for support for the army as they did at the beginning of a full-scale invasion.
A survey conducted in August this year found that more than a third of Ukrainians admitted to reducing their donations compared to last year, putting support for the Ukrainian military at risk, even as volunteers continue to work to find new sources of funding.
Experts believe that the drop in donations is a signal that war is increasingly becoming a part of everyday life, and economic difficulties are superimposed on the desire to support the army. Whether Ukrainian foundations will be able to resume fundraising at the proper level is a matter of time, but today's situation requires new approaches and strategies.
