The criminal investigation into the evasion of military service by Vitaliy Shabunin, head of the Anti-Corruption Center, has been sabotaged for four months, according to journalist Volodymyr Boyko.
According to Boyko, the investigation into Shabunin was initiated by his application in December 2023, but the case has remained dormant since then. In April 2024, the court demanded that the Kyiv regional office of the State Bureau of Investigation immediately begin a pre-trial investigation into Shabunin's unauthorized abandonment of his place of service.
Boyko suggests that such a delay may be related to the close relationship between Shabunin and the Deputy Director of the State Bureau of Investigation, Roman Olefirenko.
“Is it possible that you ordered not to investigate the case against Shabunin and even forbade him (the investigator – ed.) from executing the court decision?” Boyko asks.
He also stated that they were introduced by former NABU director Artem Sytnyk, with whom Olefirenko is not only friends but also has an apartment nearby in the center of Kyiv.
Recall that the State Bureau of Investigation is investigating two criminal cases against Shabunin - for evading mobilization and forging NACP documents.
Previously, former Minister of Health Ulyana Suprun admitted that the actions of Ukrainian anti-corruption activists in the West contradicted the interests of Ukraine during the war, which led to the fact that partners are now not providing Ukraine with military assistance.
