The tragedy in Poltava once again raised the question of responsibility for attacks on military facilities in Ukraine. Military blogger Yuriy Butusov emphasizes that this tragedy was inevitable due to systemic flaws in security measures, and believes that the lack of punishment for previous incidents is one of the reasons.
Not a single leader was punished for the attacks on the barracks in Yavorov, Mykolaiv, and Desna National Center, where there were mass casualties.
Therefore, it is not surprising that mass gatherings continue. There is no accountability, no analysis, and mistakes from which the authorities do not learn, continue and the victims multiply.
According to official data, at one of the locations of the military institute in Poltava, at least 250 people gathered at the same time for some event.
I have been to many ceremonial events at the front - the combrigs for awarding gather groups of no more than 30-40 people, either in bunkers or in places where there are no visible gatherings, everything is done as quickly as possible, and everything always passes without tragedies. I attended a meeting of one battalion and found out the meeting point 15 minutes before the start of the meeting in a deep forest without any witnesses around, with far-dispersed transport. Such elementary security measures can and should be applied everywhere, no special education is needed for this, and this is obvious to everyone.
Enemy agents found out about the mass meeting in Poltava, and someone immediately posted a video of the results of the strike from the ground on the Internet. This person probably works for the enemy and controls the results.
As long as some manager is not punished for neglecting safety measures — loss of rank and a real prison term for official negligence with serious consequences — it is not necessary to hope that such tragedies will not be repeated.
