The Government of Ukraine has adopted new decisions that will significantly affect the ability of male Ukrainian citizens to obtain a driver's license abroad. This decision, which has become known to Sudovo-Yurydichnaya Gazeta, introduces new requirements for men who are outside Ukraine.
According to new Cabinet of Ministers resolutions, men abroad will not be able to obtain a driver's license if they have not fulfilled the legal requirements for updating their military registration data. This decision will take effect for the period of martial law and for three months after its termination or cancellation.
What Changes Have Been Made?
- Update Data: Male citizens of Ukraine aged 18 to 60 who are outside Ukraine must update their military registration data in the Unified State Register of Conscripts, Military Enlisted Persons and Reservists. Without fulfilling this condition, they will not be able to obtain a driver's license or exchange it, as well as register or re-register vehicles.
- Procedures through the State Portal: Driver's licenses and vehicle registration certificates issued through the driver's electronic account, the Diya Portal, or other electronic platforms will not be sent by international mail for those citizens who have not met the requirements for updating military registration data.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine urges citizens to take advantage of the opportunity to update their data online. This will help avoid long lines and possible fines for failure to comply with the new requirements.
The main goal of these innovations is to ensure timely and accurate updating of citizens' military registration data, which will allow for better control of the situation with mobilization and military registration, as well as avoid possible abuses and errors in record keeping.
The new rules are intended to improve control over mobilization processes, but they also create certain difficulties for Ukrainians abroad. However, timely updating of data and compliance with the new requirements will help avoid complications with obtaining important documents, such as a driver's license.
