The winter period in Ukraine may lead to an increase in prices for a number of products, including meat, eggs, sugar, oil and dairy products. According to the Deputy Chairman of the "All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council" Denys Marchuk, the price of these goods is expected to increase by up to 15%, which is due to several factors, in particular, the increase in the price of animal feed and the increase in demand for products during the holidays.
Reasons for price increase:
- Increase in the price of feed: One of the main factors is the significant increase in the price of feed, in particular feed corn, which accounts for up to 70% of the cost of products such as chicken and eggs. As Marchuk noted, feed prices have increased significantly compared to last year, which directly affects the prices of final products.
- Rising demand before the holidays: Marchuk also noted that with the increase in demand for food products during the winter period, especially in the run-up to the New Year holidays, prices may increase even more.
Forecasted price changes:
- Meat, eggs, sugar, oil and dairy products may increase in price by 10-15%.
- An increase in the cost of lard is also possible within the projected increase.
- Prices for eggs are already significantly higher than last season, which is also related to changes in the cost of production.
In general, the winter period, according to forecasts, may be accompanied by a certain increase in food prices, but in the coming weeks we can expect a certain lull in pricing. But with the start of holiday shopping, prices may rise again.
