Ukraine is predicted to run out of ammunition and be constantly behind in the war with Russia for months to come, until the West agrees to take further steps to support Kyiv.
This was stated by the Chief of the British Defense Staff, Tony Radakin.
Speaking at a conference in London, the admiral avoided direct comment on France's proposal to deploy Western ground forces in Ukraine, but he noted the urgent need for increased industrial assistance.
The military leader noted that the Ukrainian army is facing a difficult situation on the ground, as it lacks ammunition and supplies. This is due to the suspension of US military aid by Republicans in Congress, while Europe has not yet been able to fill the gap.
Radakin noted that NATO allies are discussing issues of strengthening support for Ukraine. New statements are expected during or before the July NATO summit in Washington.
Ukrainian defenders are experiencing a shortage of artillery shells, which directly affects the situation on the front. They recently had to retreat from Avdiivka due to the difficult situation.
As a reminder, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, stated that Kyiv would not have lost Avdiivka if the allies had transferred artillery shells in a timely manner.
Earlier, the UK government announced the allocation of a £245 million package of ammunition, which is critical for Ukraine's war against Russia.
