How and when the mobilization law will come into effect
Read more about when certain provisions of the law on strengthening mobilization, which Zelensky signed today, come into force.
1. The law enters into force one month after the day following its publication. It can be assumed that it will be published in the near future, that is, it will enter into force after May 16.
2. At the same time, the provisions of the law relating to military transport duty (mobilization of transport) will enter into force in 8 months, i.e. from the middle of January 2025.
3. Conscripts and conscripts must update their data within 60 days after the law enters into force, that is, by mid-July 2024.
Those persons who are not in Ukraine and removed from military registration due to their stay abroad must be registered again within 30 days from the date of entry into force of a separate resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on the registration of citizens who are abroad.
4. From September 1, 2025, basic military training for all students will begin. Also, on September 1, 2025, training in military affairs will start for persons who want to take up positions in the civil service or in the prosecutor's office for the first time. The very requirement to have such military training for entering the post will come into effect a year later. From September 1, 2026 or from the moment martial law is lifted.
5. Within a month from the moment of publication of the law (that is, until mid-May 2024), the Cabinet of Ministers must develop the acts necessary for the operation of the law, as well as ensure the work of recruiters in administrative service centers and employment centers, with the aim of attracting people to military service.
6) Electronic offices must be operational within 2 months from the moment of publication of the law. That is, until the middle of June.
7. By mid-July 2024, the automated data exchange between the electronic register and the data bank on disability issues will be operational.
8. Within 3 months after the publication of the law, i.e. by the middle of July 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers must take measures to verify the conclusions of MSEK (medical and social expert commissions) on the establishment of disability for persons aged 25-50, adopted after February 24, 2022.
