How not to become a victim of card scam

In Ukraine, fraudsters are constantly improving their methods of deception, adapting them to the latest technologies. According to the Deputy Chairman of the Board Globus Bank Anna Dovgalska, card scams quickly master innovations, including artificial intelligence (AI), and use psychological techniques for manipulation of people.

One of the main trends of card fraud in 2025 is the use of AI. In particular, fraudsters create dipphases - fake videos that replace the face, voice and even facial expressions of people. Such videos are often used to deceive citizens, such as inventing applications from officials about fake social payments. This allows fraudsters to mislead people, forcing them to follow false instructions.

In addition, fraudsters use familiar methods, adapting them to the circumstances of the war. They organize counterfeit funds for the military, drones or on the car that will never be used as intended. The purpose of such schemes is to simply get the money and disappear, leaving the casualties without support. However, the new trend was the use of card and personal data schemes. Fraudsters create situations where people voluntarily transfer their cards and access to their accounts, receiving a reward. It is also illegal, and such schemes often attract cryptocurrency to complicate tracking.

Social engineering is another method that, although not new, has become popular lately. Craze is manipulated by people, creating the illusion of urgency. One of the most common cases is calls, allegedly from representatives of banks, during which fraudsters ask for confidential information, such as card data or passwords. This scheme increased by 12% in 2024, as people often expose emotions and do not understand that it may be deceived.

To protect against these fraudsters, it is important to follow a few simple rules. First of all, you need to carefully check the URL on which payment data is entered. The site should start with “https:/” and be official. This will help to avoid phishing attacks through counterfeit sites. If you call or send a message asking you to provide confidential information, do not answer. Official organizations do not ask for such data by phone or e -mail.

Another important aspect of security is the use of unique passwords for each account. A good password should be 12 characters long and contain numbers, letters and special signs. In addition, regular software updates on smartphones and computers will help ensure their safety, as new versions of operating systems are less vulnerable to attacks.

Finally, one of the best ways to protect is multifactorial authentication. It adds an additional level of security for accounts, cards and bank cards. This method allows you to create more reliable protection against hacking accounts.

In the digital world, the payment card can be compared to the passport, as it is tied to a lot of personal data. Therefore, it is important to protect your data in order to protect your own passport. The rise in fraud in Ukraine requires more attention to each user's attention to their cybersecurity and the continuous improvement of knowledge in this area.

In most cases, fraudsters will not be able to steal your money without your consent, so it is important to be careful and aware of modern digital risks.
