How to get 908 hryvnias for books through "Diya": instructions

From December 16, 2024, the state program "eKnyga" aimed at popularizing reading among young people will be launched in Ukraine. Thanks to this initiative, 18-year-old citizens will be able to receive 908 hryvnias through the "Diya" application for purchasing books in the Ukrainian language.

How does the program work?

Funds can be used to purchase paper, electronic or audio books in bookstores or online stores participating in the program. Deputy Minister of Culture Halyna Grigorenko noted that bookstores are already ready for the launch of the project.

"This is a kind of gift for young people to encourage reading," Grigorenko stressed.

The program covers all Ukrainians who will turn 18 in 2024, regardless of their place of residence - in Ukraine or abroad.

How to use "eBook"?

To receive financial assistance, you need:

  1. Log in to the "Action" application.
  2. Select the "eBook" service.
  3. Open a special account.
  4. After crediting the funds, purchase books within three months.

The list of bookstores and online stores participating in the program will be available on the websites of "Diya" and the Ukrainian Book Institute.

Features of the program

  • Amount of assistance : UAH 908 (0.3 of the subsistence minimum for able-bodied persons).
  • Available formats : paper, electronic, audio books.
  • Language of books : exclusively Ukrainian.
  • Term of use of funds : 3 months.

Although the program is aimed at 18-year-olds, Grigorenko emphasized that the habit of reading should be formed in childhood. She also expressed her hope that this project will be an important step in supporting Ukrainian books and the development of reading culture.
