A soaked smartphone is a real stress for the owner. Many are working on old advice from the Internet, but some of them have long lost their relevance or even harm the device. The Sun has explained the example of the iPhone how to dry your phone safely and what common mistakes can cause it to be damaged.
The most common "folk" way is to put a phone in a bowl with rice. However, according to Apple, this method is not only ineffective but also dangerous: small particles of cereals can get inside the device and damage its components.
It is also not recommended to use a hair dryer, compressed air or heating appliances - excessive heat can fail the chip. Another common mistake is to try to wipe water from the connector with cotton swabs or paper wipes. This can damage the contacts or score the port.
Apple advises in case of moisture in the connector (iPhone can even prevent it from a special message) to follow the following actions:
-
gently knock the smartphone on the palm of hand, sending the connector down;
-
leave the device in a dry room with ventilation;
-
Wait for at least 30 minutes before recharging.
Another method that is actively discussed by users is to place a smartphone in a sealed bag with silica gel. These bags are usually put in boxes with shoes or appliances. Silicagel absorbs moisture much more effectively than rice and does not create a risk of mechanical damage.
Avoid contact with water, especially if the model does not have IP68 or above. At the same time, models appear on the market, such as the recently presented Doogee V max s , which have amazing endurance: they can withstand fall from 3 meters and dive into water without any consequences.
Drying a smartphone is a matter that requires patience and the right approach. Forget about rice and hairdryers - modern recommendations are much more efficient and safer.
