The State Bureau of Investigation is carefully studying crimes related to the events on the Maidan. According to the latest reports, as of February 19, more than 100 cases have already been brought to court, including those involving high-ranking officials.
This information was posted on the Facebook page of the State Bureau of Investigation. According to the SBI, during the four years of the investigation of the "Maidan case" 239 suspicions were revealed, and 117 indictments against 211 people were sent to the court.
One of the most significant successes highlighted by the Bureau is the completion and transfer to court of the most important case involving the former state leadership and heads of law enforcement agencies. This includes:
- ex-president of Ukraine;
- the former head of the SBU and his deputy;
- the former Minister of Internal Affairs and his deputy;
- former Minister of Defense;
- former commander of internal forces;
- the former head of the capital police, his deputy and the head of the "Berkut" regiment.
The SBI emphasizes that these former officials are accused of organizing the murders of 67 citizens and causing bodily harm to 887 people in the period from February 18 to 20, 2014.
"However, the employees of the SBI will continue their work until all those guilty of crimes related to Euromaidan are punished. We will remind that 60,000 law enforcement officers were involved in order to maintain order during the events from November 2013 to February 2014", - stated in the message of the SBI.
Only at the beginning of this year, according to the SBI, indictments were sent to the court against the direct killers of the Maidan activists, and the prominent figures in the investigation have already been charged with suspicion.
It is worth noting that in about 60 cases related to the Revolution of Dignity, there is a risk of the expiration of the statute of limitations before the defendants are sentenced. However, this situation does not apply to the ex-president and other members of his team, as stated by Oleksiy Donsky, the head of the Department for the Organization of Procedural Management of Pretrial Investigations in Cases Related to Mass Protests of 2013-2014, in November 2024.
