Today, April 30, believers of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine honor the apostle James Zebedee, one of the closest disciples of Jesus Christ, according to the new style. The people call this day James the Warm - it is believed that after him spring gains strength.
Who is the apostle James?
The Apostle James lived in the 1st century, was the brother of John the Theologian and one of the twelve apostles. He witnessed many of Jesus' miracles: the resurrection of Jairus' daughter, the Transfiguration on Mount Tabor, and even accompanied Christ at the most important moments of His earthly life. Later, James preached Christianity in other countries, for which he was executed by order of King Herod Agrippa. His relics were later transferred to the Spanish city of Santiago de Compostela.

According to the Julian style, April 30 is the memorial day of the holy martyr Simeon, Bishop of Persia, who died for his faith in the 4th century.
