Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal announced the expansion of the "Winter Support" program aimed at helping citizens in the most difficult winter period. Today, the initiative already includes eight programs that provide financial, social and material support.
Main programs of "Winter Support"
- Winter Support
Ukrainians can receive a payment of 1,000 hryvnias through the Diya portal. 4 million applications have already been submitted, and starting this week, payments will begin to arrive through Ukrposhta and partner banks. - Subsidies
The state provides subsidies for the payment of communal services to all those who need it. Separately, special payments of up to 21,000 rubles are provided for residents of front-line communities. UAH for the purchase of firewood and coal. - Teachers' allowance
Starting in January 2024, teachers will receive at least 1,000 hryvnias in addition, and from September this amount will increase to 2,000 hryvnias. - Available medicines
The program includes more than 500 medicines that Ukrainians can get free of charge or at significant discounts. For remote regions, there is a "Mobile Pharmacy" and the delivery of medicines through "Ukrposhta". - Assistance to displaced persons
This part of the program includes monthly payments, compensation for accommodation, preferential housing loans and the possibility of obtaining a housing rental subsidy. - Warm winter
In December 2024, IDP families and low-income families who have children or adults with disabilities of the 1st group will receive UAH 6,500 for each child. - Tariff freezing
Until the end of the heating season, the tariffs for gas, heat and electricity will remain unchanged. - Free meals for schoolchildren
In 2024, the free hot meals program, which is currently available to students in grades 1-4, will be expanded to all schoolchildren.
Denys Shmyhal emphasized that these initiatives are just the beginning. The government plans to add new programs to support the population in times of war and economic challenges.
"These "Winter Support" programs are not all, and in the near future we will add and expand this initiative," the Prime Minister noted.
