European countries are ready to expand Ukrainian assistance and insist on war negotiations. This is stated in a joint statement by the Foreign Ministry of France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Poland, Germany, the EU and Ukraine.
The ministers stressed that they would support Kiev to establish a just and sustained peace that will guarantee the interests of Ukraine and European allies. They also called for Ukraine's powerful security guarantees, since the future of European stability depends on the end of the war.
At the same time, ambiguous statements sound in the West. US President Donald Trump said the ceasefire may happen "in the not too distant future", but questioned the possibility of returning Ukraine's border in 2014. The new US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegset, who considers Ukraine membership in NATO is unlikely.
Nevertheless, European allies emphasize the need for collective defense and consolidate efforts to strengthen the security of the entire continent.
